Story
Description
Jimmy performs stand-up comedy to a practically empty theater. It turns out everyone in town has gone to see paraplegic and stem cell research advocate Christopher Reeve, who is slowly regaining his strength by sucking the juices out of fetuses. Jimmy and Timmy, angered at the attention he receives, form their own "handicapped-from-birth" club -- The Crips. After learning that an organization with that name already exists (and mistakenly believing that it's also composed of people crippled from birth), they join its Denver chapter.
In order to prove their street cred, they're sent out to kill some members of a rival gang, the Bloods. The boys unwittingly accomplish this when a gasoline tanker, swerving to avoid them, crashes into gas station where Bloods gang members are haning out, killing everyone. Soon Jimmy and Timmy are rolling around South Park in their new gang colors, terrifying the populace.
Meanwhile Reeve's fetus-sucking habit not only restores him to full mobility, but then gives him superpowers -- and an insatiable desire for more and more fetuses. He founds his own Legion of Doom, which is committed to world domination and evil. But Reeve is thwarted by Oscar-winning actor Gene Hackman (whom he refers to as "Hack Man"). Hackman and his followers help secure a ban on stem cell research, then imprison Reeve in another dimension and shoot him into space.
Jimmy and Timmy have problems of their own. When Jimmy's house is sprayed with bullets by the rival Bloods gang, he finally realizes how much trouble he's gotten himself into. But instead of running for cover, he decides to bring the two enemy gangs together by doing an all night "lock in" at the Denver Recreation Center. After an impassioned speech in which Jimmy tells the rival gangs "I mean, come on," the two groups form a truce. The Crips and Bloods become fast friends, and even perform a musical number together.

Behind The Scenes
Where Did The Idea Come From
Trey and Matt considered going after Christopher Reeve for quite a while, but were always dissuaded by others who thought it deeply uncool. This time they decided to go for it. They blended it with another longstanding premise -- having Jimmy and Timmy join the Crips.

Shout Outs
When the Bloods and Crips get together to sing at the end of the episode, they're parodying the numbers usually performed during Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids. They even play improvised, Albert-esque instruments.
Larry King is shown here, hosting The Larry King Show, and obvious parody of his actual show Larry King Live. Many aspects of this episode parody the classic 1978 film Superman, although the roles of Christopher Reeve and Gene Hackman are totally reversed. Even the ending of this episode, where Reeve's is encased in a 2-dimensional panel of glass and shot into space, is a nod to the beginning of the film.
Christopher Reeve's Legion of Doom -- complete with the Hall of Doom headquarters -- is an homage to the real Legion of Doom, a fictional gang of supervillians (led by Lex Luthor) hellbent on bringing down the Super Friends. Some members of the original Legion are actually present: Black Manta, Cheetah, and Solomon Grundy, as well as parodies of Marvel villains Doctor Octopus and Doctor Doom.
Pwn'd
Actor Christopher Reeve (best known for his role as Superman) gets the royal treatment for his support of stem cell research. Also, Christopher Reeve's Legion of Doom includes Osama bin Laden, Saddam Hussein, North Korean leader Kim Jong Il . . . and magician David Blaine, last seen in "Super Best Friends."
Gene Hackman, Christopher Reeve's "old nemisis from the movies," is once again portrayed as his archrival.
Bonus Factoids
Pointless Observations
Jimmy's last name is revealed to be Swanson (although he will be called Jimmy Valmer in later episodes). Also, Christopher Reeve's Legion of Doom includes Professor Chaos and General Disarray.
Timmy and Jimmy's Crip names are "Lil' Roller" and "Four Legs," respectively.
