Story
Description
Cartman discovers a crashed truck carrying aborted human fetuses and tries to sell them to various research labs, only to have his plan derailed when Congress bans stem cell research. But when the boys are informed that Kenny has been diagnosed with a terminal disease and will soon die, Cartman -- in an uncharacteristically dramatic, emotional encounter -- vows to find a cure for him. He then breaks down at the hospital and cries in Kyle's arms.
Cartman goes to Washington to address a joint session of Congress. His impassioned singing of Asia's song "Heat of the Moment" convinces the legislators to change their minds and repeal the ban. But it comes too late. When Stan (who's hasn't been able to summon the courage to visit Kenny) finally turns up at the hospital, he finds that his friend just died.
Stan is despondent at Kenny's funeral, until Cartman suddenly bursts in and tells them to come outside to see a "miracle." It turns out he only wanted the ban repealed so that he could use the stem cells (which can regenerate other types of cells) to clone his own Shakey's Pizza. Kyle immediately begins to savagely pummel Cartman, while Stan, relieved, realizes he wasn't Kenny's worst friend after all.
What I Learned Today
"If you want to make a baby cry, first you give it a lollipop. Then you take it away. If you never give it a lollipop to begin with, then it would have nothing to cry about. That's like God, who gives us life and love and help just so that he can tear it all away and make us cry, so he can drink the sweet milk of our tears. You see, it's our tears, Stan, that give God his great power."

- "Aw man, here we go again! Use the Jew as a scapegoat." Kyle
- "No! This can't happen! Kenny can't die! Kenny can't die!" Stan
- "These are primo fetuses Randy, I wouldn't jerk you around." Cartman
- "I'm just like the fetuses, Chuck - I wasn't born yesterday either." Cartman
- "There's a pretty brave kid fighting for his life in the hospital right now, Doctor I'm gonna go get him some bigger boxing gloves." Cartman

Shout Outs
Cartman begins his speech before congress by saying "I love Kenny McCormick, and I want you to love him too." This is lifted from the movie Brian's Song, when Gale Sayers makes a speech on behalf of Brian Piccolo.
Unplanned Parenthood is a rip on Planned Parenthood, an organization that tries to promote sexual health and education. During the opening scene where the doctor is prepping his patient for her abortion, a laugh track is heard between lines of dialogue. We then cut to the TV and see it's from The Benny Hill Show.
Willie Nelson's classic traveling tune "On the Road Again" plays over the montage of fetuses being packed up and shipped away. When Cartman rolls up the overturned fetus truck, he's humming "My Baby Takes the Morning Train" by Sheena Easton. Lastly, when Cartman gives an impassioned speech to Congress, he seals the deal with a timeless song: "Heat of the Moment" by Asia.
Cartman says he learned about stem cells on 3-2-1 Contact, an educational science show that ran on PBS in the 80s.
Shakey's Pizza, the ultimate object of Cartman's desire, is a popular pizza chain.
Pwn'd
Madonna, whom Kenny calls (via Kyle's translation) "an old anorexic whore who wore out her welcome years ago, and that now she suddenly speaks with a British accent and she thinks she can play guitar and she should go fuck herself."
Bonus Factoids
Pointless Observations
On a couple of occasions the boys amuse themselves by setting fresh piles of cow manure on fire. The show opens with a doctor about to give a woman an abortion. The same woman can be seen getting an abortion in "Woodland Critter Christmas", only that time, the doctor gets some help from three lion cubs.
Cartman stumbles upon 33 aborted fetuses, which he tries to sell through telemarketing. After the ban on stem cells kills his customer base, he tries selling them as "succulent shrimp from the West Indies".
This is Kenny's second funeral, the first being in "Spontaneous Combustion". And it not his last - he gets another peaceful send off in "The Ring".
