Story
Description
The boys visit the Denver Sea Park and watch a splash-tacular performance by Jambu the killer whale. After the show's over and the crowd leaves, Kyle stays behind to hang out with Jambu. He taps on the glass and starts talking to the whale. To his surprise, the whale talks right back.
Kyle excitedly runs off and returns with the rest of the boys. After a minute, Jambu speaks to them all -- telling them his real name is Willzyx and that he comes from the moon, where his family still lives. What's worse, if he doesn't return to the moon very soon, he'll die.
What the boys don't realize is that the whale's "voice" is a prank provided by Brian and Mike, the park's two show announcers talking over the P.A. system. The boys return home, rally the other kids and hatch a daring plan to kidnap Willzyx and return him to the moon.
In the middle of the night, the boys sneak into the park and launch a bold rescue attempt. The next morning, the park is swarming with cops and confused employees -- no one has any idea who stole the whale. Except, of course, for Brian and Mike, who nervously hatch a plan of their own to recapture the giant mammal.
The boys stash Willzyx in a swimming pool in Clyde Donovan's backyard and begin work on Stage Two: finding a rocket to transport the seven-ton whale to the surface of the moon. Russia wants $20 million. China seeks $10 million -- and tells the boys to go fuck themselves when they try to haggle. They try a few other countries too, but their prices are well beyond the boys' means.
Meanwhile, Brian and Mike have started searching around South Park, desperately hoping to locate the whale before it's discovered that their prank caused the theft. They find the pool behind Clyde's house. It's now empty, but the whale feces floating in it gives them a clue they're on the right track.
Willzyx is now in Kyle's room, being regularly hosed down with water to keep it comfortable. Just in time, Stan and Craig strike a deal with the Mexican Space Program for the reasonable price of $200.
They hustle the whale onto a truck and head for Tijuana only to be intercepted by Brian and Mike and, shortly thereafter, by the police. Finally the Animal Liberation Front, which applauded the theft of the whale from the beginning, come onto the scene with guns blazing. After killing most of the opposition, A.L.F.'s leader (who believes the boys plan to release the whale into the sea) drives them the rest of the way to Tijuana.
With the help of A.L.F., the boys successfully get Willzyx to the water, and after a tearful goodbye, release him off into the ocean. But just as the A.L.F. leader declares victory, the Mexican rocket launches skyward with Willzyx in tow.
A mariachi band plays in celebration. The boys congratulate themselves for helping their friend return home. And in the last shot of the show, the whale is seen successfully laying on the surface of the moon dead.
What I Learned Today

Characters
Character Debuts
Willzyx (aka Jambu), the "talking" whale from the moon. Unfortunately, he only makes it through one episode. We also meet Brian and Mike, the two Sea Park announcers.
Body Count
A cop, Mike (one of the announcers for Denver Sea Park), and a couple of A.L.F. members all get shot up during the final gunfight to save Willzyx. And of course, Willzyx.

Behind The Scenes
Where Did The Idea Come From
The show began with a single concept -- a dead whale on the moon. All the writers had to do was figure out how it got there. "This is a great example of a simple idea done well," Trey said.
Pop Culture References
Shout Outs
The two PA announcers talk about watching the Fox reality show Trading Spouses. Also, Kyle's parents take Ike to watch the new Harry Potter movie. Kyle opts not to go because he's on the phone with the Japanese Space Program.
Pwn'd
When Clyde's mom is shown drawings of the four boys and asked if she knows them, she says, "The fat one in the middle [Cartman] looks like Dakota Fanning."
Russian President Vladimir Putin is first excited with the prospect of saving his flailing country with the "whale to the moon" mission, but when he thinks it's a prank call, he screams "Kiss my ass George Bush! This is not funny!!"
Bonus Factoids
Pointless Observations
While kidnapping Willzyx, all of the boys dress in black and wear blackface except for Tolkien, who wears whiteface.
The Animal Liberation Front (A.L.F.) is not to be confused with the American Liberation Front (A.L.F.) -- an organization formed by Cartman and Butters in "The China Probrem."
The Mexican space program is called MASA (Mexicano Aeronautico Y Spacio Administracion), a pretty obvious parody on America's space agency, NASA. Also "Jambu" the killer whale is an homage to SeaWorld's "Shamu," the stagename for their iconic killer whale show.
This is the only time that there is absolutely no audio during the closing credits -- just a dead whale on the moon.
The two guys from Denver Sea Park produce a composite sketch of the boys, which they show around South Park in an attempt to track them down. Originally Trey considered making it four crude stick figures before taking the opposite approach -- producing lifelike pencil sketches of Kyle, Stan, Cartman, and Kenny. The final effect is both fascinating and a little bit unsettling.
